Outcome 4a- Journal Excerpt

Over the course of my practicum I was able to apply concepts I learned my classes. This is especially true when it comes to cataloging, collection development, collection management, and information theory. I was grateful for being given time to develop my skills in a professional setting.

Outcome 4c- 702 Lesson Plan

Part of being a professional in the library field is being able to teach or reteach a skill. One of the ways that I did this was to teach about self-censorship and how that impacts librarians. I had a PowerPoint and an in-class activity that helped students see if an action was an actual selection method or an act of self-censorship.  This activity helped students to experience some of the pressures that librarians face in the field while they maintain the collection.

Outcome 4b- ALMA Report

Making the transition from one digital management system to another is a large task, but one that will make the findability and usability of the libraries resources easier. Part of making the transition to ALMA meant cleaning up metadata records and eliminating the records that no longer match up with an item. All of this is being done to make the library more secure and to help patrons find what they are looking for.
